… Yamahopper tuning …

If you asked me to take apart a carb from a two stroke engine two weeks ago I would have shrugged my shoulders. Now, I’m like a lawnmower repairman!

I’ve replaced the air cleaner on my QT50 with an original one. It didn’t seem to have much flow and my Hopper was bogging down, so I drilled out two 1/4″ holes on the side opposite the carb. I adjusted the throttle cable and reset the needle to the stock position. It seemed to run much better, until I ran out of gas! Ugggg.

I’ll have to test it again tomorrow and see if it all worked out. The moped was running okay before I thoroughly cleaned the carb (guitar string through the jets and such), fuel line and replaced the airbox. It would hesitate from a dead stop, and would occasionally not want to go all out at full throttle.
