I hooked my old turntable/radio up to my Grendel Dead Room and I have been playing easy listening through it for three days. It is a sort of torture test.
Speakers need to be broken in. It doesn’t really matter what you play through them, they just need to keep moving for a while to free up the driver.
So I’ve had my Dead Room for a few months and have had very little time to break it in. I pulled the ol’ stereo out of the basement and problem solved …
Yup … went on out to the pumpkin patch today and took me a hay ride! Durp durp durp!
Shucks … I seen all kinda dog, plant, an’ peoples out der. It was like the county fair ‘cept they aint got no rides … but they did have them a corn maze.
I never go in dem corn mazes myself. Too confusin’.
We hunted up ourselves ’bout three baby punkins. They put up a good fight, but they was no match fer my lightnin’ refleckses.

As we creep closer to a cultural celebration of all things menacing and evil, I can’t help but to look back at the foundations of my own fears. I’m not talking about George Dubya II fears here. I’m talkin’ full on real deal fears.
Disturbing childhood moment #1:
I clearly remember watching the original “Star Trek” series after school as a child. I was probably six or seven. One of the episodes involved a misbehaving teenager that had highly developed psychic abilities. He didn’t like it when people laughed at him, so he decided to take away the mouths (and apparently the entire faces) of the offending party.
The above image is from that particular episode. I remember the scene all too well. In my mind it seemed to be a very important scene that lasted for an extended period of time. Upon reviewing it today, I think think that faceless woman in the miniskirt is on screen for about 2.2 seconds. A muffled groaning sound can be heard eminating from beneath the skin.
I guess that was enough to leave a lasting impression on me.

200 posts now.
Still need to finish my solo record “Bits”.
Still need to finish my “Armanium” VSTi.
I did graduate from college with a degree in Physics .
I took my first webcam picture and posted from my new S10 netbook. Sweeeeet. This thing is tiny.
Well … here’s to the future in which I hope to write another feature length screenplay, some short stories and (of course) some more music. I have more ideas than I can even record here. I guess that is a good thing.
The blog has helped me keep track of what I need to be doing and remain productive for the past six months or so. I’m not sure how long I’ll keep it up. It does serve a purpose for me as I sort through and come up with my various projects.

I was finally able to see a specialist today about my on going problem with my ears. I had my first hearing test since the fifth grade and it went okay.
They reported some hearing loss around 8kHz in my left ear which was surprising. I expected to have some loss in my right ear, considering I had a pretty bad ear infection when I was 19. They said my right ear was pretty much normal and within acceptable bounds with minor hearing loss due to years of playing live music. Nothing to worry about.
I’ve never had a problem with high frequency information on the left side, so this came as a bit of a shock. I think the headphones they put on my head were not even lined up with my ear holes. Coming from a guy who has spent half his life wearing headphones, I think I might know where they hit my ears the best. Those tests tones are awfully quiet and if the phones are not lines up correctly, then I’m pretty sure that could alter the test results.
Anyway … I’m going to do my own hearing test at home to see if my balance is off ~ 8kHz. I just want to test the relative balance between my ears. I’ll post the results later.
The good news is, although my ears have felt strange for about a month now, my hearing is pretty much normal.
