… Adventure (lyrics) …

Adventure was the first song I penned when I knew I was going to create an album called “Bits”. It was late summer … before my final year at college studying physics … and I had a week before classes started back up.

I riffled through my stacks of cartridges and manuals and instantly connected with the game “Adventure”. Daring feats by brave knights … dark caverns … sea horses (oooops I mean dragons) … and the golden chalice.

Here it is:

Adventure

don’t tell anybody else what you discovered
they might work to take it from you
there’s a hundred reasons you can find
decide for goodness sake just take a look around you
don’t look anybody in the eyes
decipher cryptic notions meant to warn you
don’t let anybody in your mind decide
you have more rights than all the world around you

don’t let anybody learn your lines
employ your words as weapons
hypnotize them
don’t let anybody out of your sight
despite your humble nature
don’t miss anything that doesn’t feel right
it may be worth a look for just a moment
when you recognize a world outside the human
it may not be waiting for you

we’re all so amazed we never thought you’d make it in
never thought you’d make it anywhere
now separate unless you want this to end here
so turn back save yourself
there’s no shame in making it as far as you just did
unless you want to win

there’s another way
we can integrate
just start giving more than you want to
Adventure
… this adventure … will begin
