… professor …
I spent today collecting my thoughts for the lecture I’m giving next weekend on short film making. I’ve collected a bunch clips from some of my favorite shorts (mostly local NW people that I know). I might actually have too much material, but I guess that’s better than not having enough.
At last count, I have clips from ten short films (including two of my own). I’m planning on going into my production process for the film “Ring! Ring!”. I dug out my various versions of the film and cut out the same scene, shot on various formats, so that I can compare and contrast the different choices that I made in the process.
I’m going to scan in my storyboard and put that in the mix as well in order to offer up yet another version of the same scene. I’ll be able to show it from the beginning to the end of the process which might be helpful to some people. The darn movie took me two years to make and was only ten minutes long … so after seeing the process maybe someone will think to themselves “I can do better than that and I can do it in a week!”.
I haven’t taught a course in anything since 2002 so this should be interesting.
