… S10 as sequencer/VST host (continuing report) …

My Lenovo S10 successfully ran Sonar 8PE as a sequencer in a live playback situation during band practice today. Bass and drum tracks played back without any issues and keyboard sounds were triggered live via an external MIDI keyboard in real time.

Cool.

Sonar is totally overkill for what I need to do with the S10 in a band configuration. Instead, I’ve been looking into a VST host called Cantabile. It seems to run smoothly and is streamlined for live performance. The program loads quickly and even has minimal MIDI sequencing capabilities so it could actually serve as the main host application for the band. Hmmmm …

I’m excited to get a chance to start playing this keyboard setup on a regular basis.

… and yes … I have a blue MIDI keyboard.
