I’m not sure what it is called now (it’s currently labels “color” in Nanostudio). I have three main components and I think I’m going to resist the urge to connect them in a more traditional circular repeating pattern and slap them together in a “climbing up and down the mountain” formation. The three pieces all have somewhat compatible keys and feels so it’s not too much of a stretch. Basically … A-B-C-B-A.

I’m kind of tempted to just keep writing more sections and have the song progress in a more linear fashion like I was thinking about just the other day. I do like the B part, which is in some strange mutation of 5/4 time and sounds like a football anthem played in half time while distorted guitars chug out my favorite hard rock chords from 1992. This is immediately followed by a more slanted and sparse section. So … do I go right back into the football anthem and lead out with the section that started the song off?

I’ve been working on a little song originally titled “the grey scale” this week.
